The Capilano neighbourhood is located in the District of North Vancouver. Its boundaries are Grouse Mountain to the north, the Upper Levels Highway to the south, Mosquito Creek to the east and Capilano Road to the west. Nearby neighbourhoods include Edgemont, Seymour-Heights, and Lynn Valley.
 
Demographic
 
A quiet neighbourhood, Capilano is a popular neighbourhood with families, close to many commuter routes and Handsworth School.
 
Residential Housing
 
A large proportion of homes in Capilano are single-family houses, as opposed to townhomes or apartments, although you will find those dotted around the neighbourhood. Recreation
 
Best known for its popular attraction, the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is home to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which stretches across the nearby Capilano River where visitors can explore the area’s forested trails, or stop by the popular Capilano Salmon Hatchery at the top of the river. During July and August, Edgemont Village also hosts a free live concert series, which is extremely popular with residents. Other popular attractions in the area include Grouse Mountain, where you can ski, ride the gondola or hike the Grouse Grind, as well as Murdo Fraser Golf Course and Capilano Golf and Country Club for golf enthusiasts.

Restaurants
 
An area popular with families, there are a variety of family-friendly dining options in the neighbourhood. Edgemont Village is home to popular eateries including neighbourhood bistro, The Canyon Restaurant, Nobu Sushi, serving authentic Japanese cuisine, as well as convenience food stores like BjornBar Bakery, Subway and CoCo Froyo. Delany’s Coffee House and David’s Tea are always filled with people and great places to grab a coffee, freshly baked treat or delicious sandwich. Shopping
 
Capilano Mall is home to over 90 stores and services, from fashion boutiques like Suzy Shier and Urban Planet, to grocery stores such as Walmart. The neighbourhood is also home to Edgemont Village, providing visitors with a unique shopping experience. Popular stores include 32 Books, offering a wonderful selection of books for all ages, an eclectic variety of greeting cards & gifts, independent toy store, BC Playthings, as well as community food store, Columbus Farm Market, and La Galleria Fine Foods, offering homemade soups, fresh pastas and lovingly prepared salads.
 
Schools
 
The Capilano area offers a range of schools for children of all areas. Elementary schools include Highlands Elementary, Capilano Elementary and Norgate Elementary, with Handsworth Secondary being the most popular choice for high school students in the area. The highly-acclaimed Capilano University is also located a short distance from the neighbourhood.
 
Transportation 
 
If you drive, as many Capilano residents do, the North Shore is easily accessible via the Lions Gate or Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. Buses running from Marine Drive also provide easy access to downtown Vancouver through the Seabus Link. The Seabus runs every fifteen minutes on a regular schedule. Lots of amenities are also accessible via foot or by bike.
