Explore Dundarave

One of West Vancouver’s most highly sought after communities, Dundarave offers a range of stunning waterfront properties with stunning views, as well as being home to many exciting shops, cafes, restaurants and services. A small but tight-knit community, Dundarave has lots to offer its residents looking for a fresh start away from the city. Come on over and take a closer look.

Location

Dundarave is fairly small, compared to a lot of other West Vancouver neighbourhoods. Spanning 13 blocks, it runs from the Trans-Canada Highway, south to Marine Drive, and from 21st Street, west to 27th Street. Neighbourhoods surrounding Dundarave include Ambleside, Caulfeild and British Properties (The Properties).

Demographic

Home ownership in this neighbourhood is high, with approximately 86% of people owning homes, compared to 14% renting. Although it’s a great place to live for anyone, families marginally occupy the largest amount of properties (36%), as opposed to couples who make up 35% of people, and singles, 29%. Families with children in the area typically have two children at home, with a large percentage high school age or above.

Residential Housing

Dundarave offers a mix of single-family homes and waterfront condos, many with stunning views of the surrounding areas. The majority of houses are older (pre-1980’s), but there are still many lots available along the waterfront with only old homes on them. These are potential mega homes to be built in the future. The average benchmark for Dundarave houses is between $1 and 2 million, while Dundarave condo prices start at around $240,000.

Recreation

Dundarave is at the centre of recreational activities in the area, with community amenities including the popular West Vancouver Community and Recreation Centre, offering yoga and group fitness classes, pottery, hiking, cycling and more. Dundarave Park is also a main attraction in the area. As one of the most visited parks in West Vancouver, it is a great spot for a family day out, with over 50 metres of wide sandy beach and nearly a hectare of waterfront access. It’s also where the Centennial Seawall begins, which stretches around the shores of Burrard Inlet to popular shopping destinations, Ambleside and Park Royal Mall.

Restaurants

After strolling along the Centennial Seawall, there are some great restaurants and cafes to enjoy the sunset from, including family friendly restaurant, The Red Lion Bar and Grill, and The Beach House at Dundarave Pier, with a spacious patio overlooking Howe Sound. Other nearby restaurants and cafe’s include Feast Neighbourhood Table, The Truffle House and Cafe, Dundarave Sushi, and Delany’s Coffee House. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to check out The Bakehouse and Temper Chocolate Pastry, serving freshly baked goods, as well as savoury items and brunch dishes.

Shopping

Dundarave Village is also home to a large variety of shops and galleries, including convenience stores such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmasave, as well as RBC Royal Bank, Animal Medical Hospital and Dundarave Dental Clinic. Dundarave has something for everyone, with stores ranging from home and garden, to barber shops and beauty salons. The main store for groceries is IGA Marketplace, or if you want to venture a little further, Save-On-Foods grocery store is a 15 minute drive from Dundarave.
