Upper Lonsdale extends along Lonsdale Avenue from the Upper Levels Highway north to the undeveloped slopes of Grouse Mountain. Nearby neighbourhoods include Central Lonsdale, Princess Park, Braemar, and Upper Delbrook.
Demographic
 
The majority of Upper Lonsdale residents are aged between 20 and 44 (39%), with 15% under 19, due to the large number of families in the neighbourhood with children still living at home. Approximately 49% of residents are homeowners, and 50% rent.
 
Residential Housing
 
One of North Vancouver’s long desired residential areas, the area is comprised mostly of single family homes, from character homes to custom new builds, with a few new low rise condos. Since the neighbourhood is 850 meters above sea level, many Upper Lonsdale properties also experience mountain and ocean views from the windows and balconies of their homes. The Upper Lonsdale neighbourhood features numerous recreational spaces for its residents, with Delbrook Park, Carisbrooke Park and Rockland Park just three of the family-friendly green spaces in the area home to playgrounds for children as well. There are also 140 km of trails in North Vancouver that connect a wide range of hiking areas, so if you love outdoor activity, you’ll love this neighbourhood. Also close by is the John Braithwaite Community Centre, the City of North Vancouver’s first multi-purpose facility offering more than 35,000 square feet for social, recreation and general community use space.
 
Restaurants
 
Lonsdale Avenue, the main north-south artery of North Vancouver, offers a wide variety of great neighbourhood restaurants, with something to tingle everyone’s tastebuds. Popular choices include the Queens Cross Pub, a sports bar, pub and liquor store with live music and great food, Indian Fusion, serving authentic Indian cuisine, and Browns Socialhouse, serving pub fare such as burgers and pizza, as well as offering a delicious weekend brunch. If you’re looking for a spot to grab coffee or catch up with friends, Brazza Gelato and Coffee, JJ Bean and Beans on Lonsdale are all worth noting.
 
Shopping
 
As with restaurants, Lonsdale Avenue is the area’s main shopping district, home to a number of local speciality stores. Popular choices include Blue Sky Clothing Company, North Shore Girl, On Top Bike Shop, and The Boardroom. The nearby Lonsdale Quay Market Centre is also home to a fresh food market, specialty shops, a kids’ play area, and a hotel and spa. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for there, the Capilano Mall, which is home to over 90 shops and services, is just a short drive away.
 
Schools
 
A popular area with families, there are several schools located in the Upper Lonsdale neighbourhood. Elementary schools include Braemar Elementary, Larson Elementary, Carisbrooke Elementary and Ecole Andre Piolat, while Carson Graham Secondary is the choice for the majority of high school students. Capilano University is also just a short drive from the neighbourhood.
 
Transportation
 
If you drive, as many Upper Lonsdale residents do, the Upper Levels Highway provides convenient access over the Second Narrows Bridge into Vancouver and out to the Sea-to-Sky highway and to Whistler and Blackcomb. The Seabus is easily accessible from the Lonsdale Quay Market, located in nearby Lower Lonsdale. Several buses also run on Lonsdale Avenue in Central Lonsdale.
