Situated off Marine Drive, the neighbourhood of Westmount is located on the west slope of Cypress Mountain, stretching all the way to McKechnie Park. Nearby neighbourhoods include British Properties, Caulfeild and Dundarave.
 
Demographic
 
Approximately 58% of housing in the area consists of single, detached homes, with 92.7% of residents homeowners, and around 7.3% renting. The majority of residents are aged between 40 and 59 (34.2%).
 
Residential Housing
 
A neighbourhood home to a large proportion of older properties, approximately 80% of Westmount homes were built before the 1980s, giving a rustic feel to many homes. Westmount is best known for its variety of nearby parks, including the most popular, Dundarave Park, home to almost 50 metres of sandy beach. It’s also where the Centennial Seawall begins, which stretches around the shores of Burrard Inlet to popular shopping destinations, Ambleside and Park Royal Mall. Other popular outdoor areas include Altamont Beach, the perfect spot to take in the area’s beautiful surroundings, and Benbow Park, popular for its large tennis courts. Other popular recreational activities include the West Vancouver Community Centre, offering yoga and group fitness classes, pottery, hiking, cycling and more, Lighthouse Park, offering breathtaking ocean and mountain views, and of course, the slopes of Cypress Mountain offer a variety of recreational opportunities for residents to take advantage of.

The best places for dining out in the Westmount area include the nearby Dundarave Strip, located close by to Dundarave Park. Popular restaurants include The Beach House at Dundarave Pier, with a spacious patio overlooking Howe Sound and serving local, sustainable among other delicious dishes, and popular family friendly restaurant, The Red Lion Bar and Grill. Other nearby restaurants and cafe’s include Feast Neighbourhood Table, The Truffle House and Cafe, Dundarave Sushi, and Delany’s Coffee House. Shopping
 
Dundarave Village along Marine Drive offers the closest shopping and community amenities, home to a large variety of shops and galleries, including convenience stores such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmasave, as well as RBC Royal Bank, Animal Medical Hospital and Dundarave Dental Clinic. Park Royal Shopping Centre, the primary shopping destination for most West Vancouver residents, is also just a 10 minute drive from the neighbourhood, offering a fashion-dominant north mall and a food- and service-oriented south mall. Visitors are spoilt for choice, with over 275 shops and services, from home furnishings stores like Anthropologie and Home Depot, to fashion and shoe stores, like Banana Republic, Roots and Vans.
 
Schools
 
Westmount offers some of the best educational opportunities in West Vancouver, with many schools in the area, including West Bay Elementary, offering the prestigious IB program to students. Other nearby elementary schools include Irwin Park Elementary, located in the Dundarave area, and Pauline Johnson Elementary. The main secondary school high school students living in Westmount attend is Rockridge Secondary, but West Vancouver Secondary is also nearby.
 
Transportation
 
If you drive, as many Westmount residents do, Highway One is easily accessible from Westmount, making commuting into the city very easy for residents. The area is also serviced by West Vancouver’s blue buses, and the neighbourhood is closeby to the BC Ferries’ Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.
