A downtown peninsula, the West End neighbourhood is bordered by Stanley Park, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, and the Downtown core. The West End includes Davie Village – traditionally a hub for the city’s gay community – and Denman Street.
 
Demographic
 
Historically the neighbourhood was the first in Vancouver to be populated by the rich and powerful, it later became a popular area for middle-class families, with new arrivals from the eastern provinces and a large population of German immigrants. The current population is fairly diverse, home to Canadians from various provinces, as well as immigrants.

Transportation
 
One of the most pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods in Vancouver, the West End features a network of one-way streets that prevent lots of traffic running through the area. For drivers, the area is easily accessible via Robson Street, but if you can avoid driving it may be faster to walk. Five bus routes also serve the area, connecting the West End to the downtown core and the North Shore.
