One of West Vancouver’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, British Properties, more commonly known as ‘The Properties’, was purchased by A.R. Guinness-Br. Pacific Properties in 1932 and helped finance the construction of the Lions Gate Bridge in 1938. Now an exclusive community available only to Vancouver’s most affluent, residents can enjoy all its luxuries, from easy access to private schools, to hiking trails that stretch for miles.
The Properties borders the top of West Vancouver to the north and Capilano River to the east. This exclusive neighbourhood is in a fantastic setting, conveniently located above the highway and close to downtown Vancouver and all the amenities on the North Shore.
The Properties neighbourhood is great for all kinds of households, but families are the largest group. Most houses are detached, with 92% of people owning, rather than renting property. The majority of homeowners are aged between 30-54 and 64% of those have children living at home, with a large percentage of young children. A rural setting, residents can easily walk to various parks throughout the The Properties, including Ballantree Park at the top of the hill, and Capilano Regional Park to the east of the neighbourhood. If you’re a sports enthusiast, The Properties is home to the prestigious Hollyburn Country Club, offering amenities such as tennis, squash, badminton, hockey and aquatics, and the Capilano Golf Club. A 20 minute drive north takes you to Cypress Provincial Park, where you can ski or snowboard in the winter and go mountain biking in the summer. Towards Ambleside, there is a public library, and Ambleside Park hosts events every year, such as its Canada Day celebrations and Harmony Arts Festival.

With The Properties a rather private neighbourhood, residents tend to drive or take the bus along Taylor Way to Park Royal Shopping Centre. Alternatively, Ambleside Village is just a five minute drive along 15th Street. Here you can find everything from bookstores and pet supplies, to clothing boutiques and convenience stores.
The Properties is in a great location, with easy access to popular elementary and secondary schools. Those nearby include public schools, Westcot Elementary School, Chartwell Elementary School and Sentinel Secondary School, and private establishments, Collingwood School and Mulgrave School, which boasts the International Baccalaureate program.
Driving five minutes along Taylor Way will take you onto Lions Gate Bridge, making downtown Vancouver easily accessible to The Properties residents. There is also a regular bus service running to and from Park Royal Shopping Centre.
