The majority of Canterbury residents are homeowners (88%), with just 12% renting. Many households are occupied by couples or families, with 20% of residents under the age of 19, 15% between 20 and 29, 20% between 30 and 49, and 45% over the age of 50. Approximately 61% of Canterbury residents are married.

In late 2004, The Village was opened as an expansion of Park Royal South, and boasts Vancouver’s first Salomon store, the first Pinkberry frozen yoghurt shop in Canada, and the best Whole Foods Market in North America, among other stores.

A popular neighbourhood for families, Canterbury is located nearby to a variety of elementary and secondary schools, including Chartwell Elementary,, which provides children with extracurricular activities like a leadership club, environmental club, and various sports clubs, and Sentinel Secondary, which offers a variety of programming options including French immersion, AP classes and apprenticeships. Other nearby schools include Ridgeview Elementary, Ecole Pauline Johnson Elementary, Hollyburn Elementary,and West Vancouver Secondary.
Transportation
Many residents in Canterbury own cars, since it’s easy and stress free to get around in this neighbourhood. Buses also run frequently and regularly in Canterbury, and if you cycle, the area is also home to a few bike lanes.
